Cameolot (Devlog 02)

Recently did a poll, which led to a giveaway for a few cameo slots in the game.

It did take a little while to get the giveaway up and running because certain formalities needed to take place.  These are people's characters and their intellectual property they keep ownership over their character while I retain the rights to this game. I'm also giving them their respective character sprites and variants in a CC-Attribution license. Stuff like that. Even for any small project, it's still important to cover your bases. I definitely want to be fair to people letting me use their characters--but also make sure not to I'm not opening myself up for abuse.

As far as my issues with Unity + Fungus went. I created a new project in Unity 2020 and reloaded the full on Fungus Asset--which includes a lot of example files. It runs fine now. I suspect it might not have loaded some of the necessary files, as I tried reloading it a few times and it wouldn't let me bring in several files. Anyway, since that's sorted, it's onto the writing.

Last thing. Writing is so difficult. I have notes and a general outline, but boy-oh-boy do I want to make more work for myself by adding flavorful dialogue choices that I -want- to have meaning. I always do that, and it really bogs me down. I need to internalize the fact that I should do broad strokes and I can comeback later.

PPS. The Start With This podcast just recently put out an episode entitled "Perfection is for Assholes"... need to take that to heart too.
