Fashioning Sprites


Getting the Band back together!

There's still 3 Guest Characters from two years ago that are getting added in mostly peripheral roles. The next step is to design some fashion for each character. At some future point I may devise several outfits. But to not let the scope just runaway I'll put a pin for maybe post release. While there's lots of examples of fashion in CDPR's Cyberpunk--and ever to a lesser extent Shadowrun--it's kind of opulent for the amount of material goods that I'm imagining is available here in this setting. I'll probably end up leaning towards Alien and more recently Hardspace: Shipbreaker for the sort of fashion. Though... I can tell you firsthand that coveralls aren't really that exciting. Modern FFE? Also not that sexy.

The facial expressions are their own layer, as will be the clothing. Rawle (the yeen) has a cybernetic limb, and it's going to have its own layer to ensure it's on the right (his right) arm even when the sprite is mirrored. I think before I start pounding out expressions, I'll get started filling in the scripts which will inform me closer to what the character themselves will need. Scripting will be hundreds of times more efficient. I'll discuss that toolset in a future post.

Geni's and details will be there in the final pass. Though they'll probably end up serving more of a role as character ref for the CGs.
